WHO ARE WE?  We are a tax exempt, nonprofit organization*.  Feel free to down load any material you feel will help you.  If you order our books and we help you, please consider us as one of your tax deductible donations this year so that we are able to continue ministering.

OUR MISSION:  Our mission is to bring as many people to a full knowledge of God as possible. We want to make disciples of Jesus Christ by training every believer to help others. We also hope leaders in the local church and home groups will use our healing materials to minister in small groups.

OUR STRATEGY:  Growing up in church one learns to know much about God, without ever really knowing Him.  Most of us were never taught that the final move from knowing about God, to actually knowing Him well, requires helping people and being trained to do so (Eph. 4:1-16).  Although the Church taught that every man and woman is to be a disciple of Christ, little hands on training was given.  Healing Touch Ministries endeavors to equip the saints for the work of the ministry to touch our hurting world.  No group of clergy can do that by themselves.  We provide the basic ministry skills you will need to help men and women become fully developed followers of Christ; as well as, beoming small group leaders for the for the future.

OUR HISTORY:  Dr. Theo J. Johnson founded Healing Touch Ministries in 1985 while on staff as Director of Counseling and Associate Pastor of East Hill Foursquare Church in Gresham Oregon, a Portland suburb. The church had several thousand people attending and was rapidly growing, but the staff was overwhelmed with the ministry needs of the people.  It soon became obvious that twenty people in a group could be helped much more efficiently than meeting with twenty people one hour at a time.  Small healing groups were the obvious answer.  It was during the growth of these small groups that he noticed something: testimony after testimony told of individuals proceeding through their healing from their particular wounds and along the way discovering God in a ways they had never known.  Over the years, close observation proved that the healing model God had given him was really a journey that every believer should travel and that emotional healing alone is only a part of that journey.

Dr. Johnson was aware of the vast published resources available and had used many of them in his ministry, He could not find any that satisfied his observations that the spiritual aspects of healing must be balanced with their emotional and mental partners.  Therefore, he wrote or co-wrote the healing manuals listed on this web site.  These manuals have spread throughout North America and in parts of Europe.  New Images has been translated in Slovakia.  Countless testimonies occupy our files telling of their effectiveness.  They wed the wisdom and power of God into a powerful antidote for the ailments of modern mankind.

In May of 1998, Dr. Johnson resigned from the staff of East Hill Church to devote his time to furthering this ministry.  From 1985 through 1998 the church had enjoyed a steady growth with attendance in excess of five-thousand people.  The fruit of that growth was measured with the many trained leaders and a large number of active small groups the church recieved.  From 1998 until his death in February of 2007 Dr. Johnson continued to educate, teach, travel and dicisiple individuals and small groups throughout the world with his personal appearances, internet ministry, teachings, and writings.

OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH:

Healing Touch Ministries believes:

1. Jesus Christ is God the Son, one of the Trinity, who was crucified for our sins, buried and came to life in three days, was seen by scores of witnesses, bodily rose to heaven and shall bodily return someday. We believe we are saved from hell by grace and have received the indwelling Holy Spirit when we believed and are to rely on Jesus to give life through the Holy Spirit to those around us.

2. That the "Church"is people, the Body of Christ, not a building or an organization.  Wherever two or three are gathered in the name of Christ Jesus, He is among them and that is the only criterion for having a "church service".  That can happen in a cathedral, a home, a restaurant, anywhere people are gathered.  We believe the organized Church is one way to worship God, but not the only way.

3.  That the original plan of God to evangelize the world was to equip people for works of ministry.  We believe Christ's directive to make disciples was His blue print for the Church. (Matt. 28:18-20; Ephesians 4)

4.  That if we are disciples of Christ, our ministry must be balanced as His is.  This balance is described in Isaiah 11:1-3a--- knowledge, wisdom, understanding, counsel, power and the fear of the Lord.  We are to avoid the extreme teachings (leaven) of those who concentrate on just a few of these facets of Christ's ministry and demand signs and wonders as proof of relationship with God or those who do not believe in the power of God at all.   (Matt. 16:1-12)

5. That the Bible is God's Word, God breathed and inspired (the Antioch school of Bible interpretation) and not man's metaphorical interpretation of God, open for loose interpretation (the Alexandrian school of Bible interpretation).  II Timothy 3:16,17
